Père Ami, translated to "Father Friend," is sourced from the Umpqua Valley where Fred Bernau was a small town lawyer, as well as a big believer in the future of Oregon wine. He helped reestablish Oregon's wine industry in the early 1960s when he assisted Richard Sommer of HillCrest Vineyard in securing one of the first winery licenses post-prohibition. We dedicate this wine to Founder Jim Bernau's father, Fred Bernau. A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Tempranillo, the label features a drawing of his father, hand-drawn by granddaughter Emi Bernau.
On the Nose: The wine offers aromas of cherry, raspberry, milk chocolate, caramel and vanilla.
On the Palate: Features a juicy entry with flavors of black cherry, blackberry, mocha and wood spice. This full-bodied wine is structured with integrated tannins, balancing acidity and incredible length on the finish.
Food Pairings: Mushroom lasagna, grilled lamb burgers, braised short ribs, spicy chorizo paella, pork with grilled vegetables and manchego cheeses.
Peak Drinkability: 2020 - 2026.
