Our pursuit to develop vineyards and build a winery dedicated to making Willamette Valley sparkling wine is becoming a reality. David Adelshiem, Oregon wine pioneer and founder of Adelsheim Vineyards, recommended that Willamette Valley Vineyards Founder, Jim Bernau, plant Chardonnay clone 352 from the French Wine Institute, Domaine de L’Espiguette. David learned of this natural clone on his visit there in 1974 and believed it would be perfect for sparkling wine. The winery has offered small lots of méthode champenoise sparkling wines utilizing this rare clone which has received numerous accolades including "Best Sparkling Wine in the Northwest" by Sip Magazine for the last three years.

Made with the same winemaking techniques, these wines express the terroir of their unique vineyard sites.

Offering a nose of fragrant rose, sandalwood and black cherry notes, the approach is bright as the wine moves into darker fruit notes on the palate with the addition of lavender, milk chocolate and minerality. Rich for the vintage, the wine is framed by lush tannins and balancing acidity.

This inaugural vintage is crafted using Méthode champenoise sourced from estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This blend combines the structure and vibrancy of Pinot Noir with the finesse and roundness of Chardonnay. The wine was aged on its lees for 23 months to develop added complexity before being disgorged.

Founder Jim Bernau's daughter, Emi, helped design a family crest for the label taking inspiration from their heritage and the biodynamic farming practices used at Bernau Estate Vineyard.

This wine was developed years ago by the late Winemaker Forrest Klaffke, who kept it locked away from Founder Jim Bernau to deter him from sampling tour groups on it from the barrel. The day before his passing, he gave the key to Jim and we have continued to make the wine according to his methods ever since.

Inoculated with wine spirits and brandy, this wine features inviting notes of caramel, toffee and chocolate covered cherries. On the palate, the balance of sweetness and acidity creates a beautifully harmonious sip with flavors of amaretto, dark fruit, cocoa and holiday spice.

Ingram Estate Vineyard was planted in 2013 on the east-facing slope of the Eola Hills. Owners joined us in September 2015 to plant additional vines that were harvested for this bottling. 

Ruby in color, the wine opens with tart cherry, cranberry, floral and red earth notes. On the medium-bodied palate, flavors mirror aromas with the addition of raspberry, cedar, black pepper and savory spices.
