2024 Elton Chardonnay
After a trip to Germany in 1980, where they stayed with a family that grew wine grapes, Dick and Betty O’Brien returned to Oregon inspired and eager to plant a vineyard of their own.
Betty’s parents, Elton and Peggy Ingram, turned over five acres of the farm for them to plant grapevines. They planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 1983. Elton Vineyard grew over the years from five acres to more than 60 acres.
On the Nose: Bright straw in the glass, this wine opens with floral aromas of lilac and honeysuckle layered with pineapple, kiwi, starfruit and lemon.
On the Palate: The medium-bodied palate reveals pear and green apple alongside notes of meringue, vanilla cream, shortbread and walnut. Bright acidity balances the wine’s warm, rounded texture, carrying through to a long finish.
Food Pairings: Pairs beautifully with savory dishes like chicken marsala, crab and artichoke dip, or a fresh caprese salad.
