2019 Grüner Veltliner

2019 Grüner Veltliner

This small-lot wine was made with estate-grown grapes from our Elton Vineyard.  After a trip to Austria, Dick and Betty O'Brien were inspired to plant their own block of Grüner Veltliner grapes back home at their Elton Vineyard after experiencing it thrive in a similar cool-climate wine region. The first planting spanned just 0.6 acres, but we added a few additional rows expanding it to one acre. Despite it being a small block, Elton Vineyard is still one of the largest growers of Grüner Veltliner in Oregon.

On the Nose: Straw in color, the wine opens with delicate aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit and dried herbs.

On the Palate: On the palate, zest of citrus flavors emerge and are accented by fresh florals and white pepper that carry through to a zippy, bright finish.

Food Pairings: Butter Lettuce, Grapefruit and Avocado Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette, Seared Sea Scallops, Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Roasted Artichokes with Lemon Dill Yogurt Sauce.

Peak Drinkability: 2021 - 2022.
