This library selection was sourced exclusively from 15 acres of Pinot Noir from the first plantings at the Estate Vineyard, Founder Jim Bernau planted these vines using a Christmas tree planter pulled behind his 33 horsepower tractor. He grafted the French clones 667 and 777 on a portion of the vines when they became available.
The 2009 vintage was marked by a warm growing season producing exceptional wines with very well developed and concentrated fruit flavors with lively, bright acidity balance.
This gracefully aged wine opens with earthy aromas and lighter notes of red fruit, cedar wood and rose petal. The sip is mildly tropical leading into sweet flavors of baking cocoa, black currant and raspberry with a hint of tobacco. The medium-bodied mouthfeel is balanced with light, silky tannins. The fruit-filled flavors seamlessly surrender to a lingering finish that dances on your tongue.
